Don Tomas Sun Grown Gigante
Just a couple of years ago Don Tomas cigars were very forgettable. Well not anymore. The Clasico line is very good and the new Sun Grown line promises to be even better. Cigar Aficionado gave the Don Tomas Sun Grown Gigante an 88 in their February ‘08 issue and at just $5.00 for the big corona gorda that’s a steal. The Don Tomas Sun Growns are Honduran puros from the Jamastran valley made famous by the Camacho family. It’s not nearly as strong as the Camacho Corojos but for Don Tomas this is probably the strongest cigar under that label.
Sun grown wrappers are all the rage on the heels of such successful brands as Ashton VSG, Arturo Fuente Sungrown, and others. The Don Tomas Sun Grown isn’t quite a super premium but at this price point it’s a very nice cigar.
